This major-league comedy is from the same team as Big. Hanks plays Jimmy Dugan, an ex-big league ballplayer who has had his days in the big leagues over. Dugan, who is hired to coach the All-American Girls Baseball League in 1943 while the male pros go to war, finds himself being drawn back into baseball by the heroics and heart of his all-girls team. Jon Lovitz steals the show as the sarcastic baseball scout that recruits Dottie (Geena) Hinson, the baseball dolly who swings like Babe Ruth. Madonna, Lori Petty, and Rosie O'Donnell complete the roster to take the team to the World Series. Based on a true story about the pioneering women athletes who set the standard for future generations.
