Based on Frank Miller's graphic novel Xerxes, and told in the same breathtaking visual style of Man of Steel director Zack Snyder's battle blockbuster 300, this new chapter of the epic saga takes the action to a fresh arena -- on the sea -- as statesman-turned-soldier Themistokles (Gangster Squad's Sullivan Stapleton) attempts to unite all of Greece by leading the charge that will change the course of the war. This action-adventure epic pits Themistokles against the massive invading Persian forces led by the treacherous god-king Xerxes (Lost's Rodrigo Santoro reprising his role), and the seductive, vindictive and ambitious Artemisia (Camelot's Eva Green), vengeful commander of the Persian navy. Outnumbered, but not outmaneuvered, the Greek general gambles everything on a daring plan that could seal the fate of his country and the future of democracy.
